George
H Thomas
Managing Director
Founded TRS in 1983 after leaving British Steel where he
managed the Slag Utilisation Dept. for 27 years. The department
was rated as an "area of excellence" within the
research organisation developing a number of new and successful
slag based products.
At TRS he initiated several projects where large volumes
of previously unused stockpiled slags were utilised in the
development of former steel works sites.
He is author of a number of papers on the utilisation of
slag. George Thomas has represented the industry on many
British, European and international standards committees.

Ian
D Thomas
BSc (Hons) Chemistry
Directory and Laboratory Manager
Following years at British
Steel Research working on high temperature research and
fire testing, he joined TRS on its formation in 1983.
He is responsible for managing the laboratories, including
the continuing development and refinement of in-house
specialist techniques. He is also involved in project
management, customer liasion, web site overseeing and
report production.

Denis
C Goldring
PhD, BSc (Bristol), MIMM, CGeol
Mineralogical Consultant
Company associate and mineralogist since 1991, prior to
which he managed the Mineral Resources Department in British
Steel's Research Organisation. Dr Goldring served with the
British Antarctic Survey from 1956 to 1960.

Robert
Brunger
MIMM, CEng
Site operations and process specialist.
Company associate since 1997. Robert Brunger has worked
within the iron and steel industry in various capacities
for nearly 40 years, ultimately heading the personnel and
administration department at British Steel Research, Teeside
Laboratories. He has in depth expertise in the area, especially
in the blast furnace process for iron making and in the
chemistry and structure of slags.
